Rural Fire Fee? …And other items

A couple of homeowners received bills from the State Board of Equalization notifying them that they will need to pay the new rural fire fee of $150. Fountaingrove II is within the City limits of Santa Rosa and is serviced by the Santa Rosa City Fire Department.   However, should there ever be a fire within our wild open space, Cal Fire will be on the scene with all their specialized equipment (thank goodness!).  According to the Santa Rosa Fire Department, these billings are a mistake.  Anyone who receives a charge for the rural fire fee for their Fountaingrove II property should contact Cal Fire to clear up the matter, according to the SRFD.

If you live along Rincon Ridge or Shillingford, Dafford, Beauford or Rutherford, the OSMA will be re-mulching those areas this month.  Although the mulching crew is experienced and promises to be accurate with their hoses, we want you to be prepared for some noise and dust that may accompany this project.  The OSMA plans on re-mulching the rest of Fountaingrove II in phases over the coming years.

Reminder:  The combination OSMA Annual Meeting / Firewise Meeting will be taking place on Wednesday, November 7th at the Fountaingrove Golf & Athletic Club (1525 Fountaingrove Pkwy) at 6:30.  We have arranged a really terrific panel of guests/speakers – please come for this once-a-year opportunity to understand more about the community in which you live!  On the docket so far…. Scott Moon, SRFD; Rob Daugherty and Ben Nicholls, Cal Fire; Ray Moritz and Todd Lando, Urban Forestry Associates, Inc.  You’ll be impressed with the wonderful use of technology OSMA has been able to incorporate into our forest management process.  It’s amazing!  Please come and ask questions – remember, we live in a very high fire danger zone!  It’s up to every one of us to be well-informed so that we can make our area a safer place to live.
